Nowhere in civilised society is it ok to wrap good food in cardboard prior to consumption and then proceed to consume both food and cardboard. And yet, that’s what you do every time you eat ice-cream in a cone. I have never liked ice-cream cones: not when I was a child, and certainly not now.
Unfortunately for me, I do like ice-cream. I became a happier ice-cream consumer with the arrival in Australia of the Italian style gelateria with its offer of cups and spoons. I became ecstatic with the discovery of these Winter Ice-Cream Cones.
These are essentially sweet brioche buns, which will be baked fresh for you and then frozen, (so they stay fresh). This works well though, as all you have to do is warm them up in the oven, make a hole in them (cut in half, but not all the way through works well) and stuff them with your favourite ice-cream… topping too, if you’re feeling particularly decadent.
Consume with a modicum of speed as the warm bun will start to melt the ice-cream (and therein lies their perfection for a winter dessert). Each package contains 4 ice-cream cones.
